Abstract

Abstract: We conducted detailed chemical analyses of the colored area of Quercus serrata sapwood attacked by Platypus quercivorous and its symbiotic fungus Raffaelea quercivora. In the surrounding colored part, lignin content was higher and the S/V ratio, obtained by nitrobenzene oxidation, and oxygen/carbon ratio, obtained by elemental analysis, were lower than in the reference areas, while in the central area of the colored part, which had been exposed to the fungal infection for a longer time, analytical data was similar to that in the reference areas. In the area surrounding the colored part, the deposition of occluding substances was found.
