Abstract
A two-dimensional model filter consisting of rows of cylindrical rods arranged randomly was designed and constructed as an approximation of granular filters. Experiments were conducted to observe, continuously, particle deposition taking place within the filter in an nonintrusive manner. The increase in pressure drop during the course of filtration was recorded and correlated as a function of the extent of deposition.
