Plant introduction trials

Abstract

Accessions representing 40 species (13 genera) of subtropical perennial grasses were evaluated at several sites in Northland. Characters observed included phenology, general vigour, winter- and drought-hardiness, spread, and persistence. Genera offering the most promise include Cynodon, Digitaria, Hemarthria, and Setaria.
