Jonas Van Vossole
Jonas Van Vossole is a sociologist, economist and doctor in Political Science, and part of the ECOSOC research group at the Center for Social Sciences at Coimbra University, Portugal. He is currently a CEEC-FCT individual researcher at the Center of Social Studies of Coimbra University. Jonas has a Master’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s in Complementary Economics, both from the University of Ghent. His main research interests concern the study of democracy, social movements, social protests and critical theory, political economy and political ecology. Since 2023 Jonas is co-coordinator of the Ecology and Society (ECOSOC) research laboratory on Political Ecology at CES, and regional coordinator of the Portuguese Association for Political Economy for Central Portugal. Jonas’ post-doctoral research project—Nature and Labour—aims to understand and propose Trade Union democracy as an alternative to the Democratic and Ecological crisis of Capitalism. He has been an invited lecturer on Capitalism, Social Class and Democracy and on Ecology and Labour in different undergraduate and doctoral courses at the Faculty of Economics at Coimbra University. Marcela Uchôa
Marcela Uchôa is a jurist and doctor in philosophy; she works in the areas of Humanities with an emphasis on political philosophy, human rights, republicanism, feminist studies and critical theory. She has a PhD in Political Philosophy from the University of Coimbra–Portugal and is a full member of the Institute of Philosophical Studies at the University of Coimbra where her research focuses on the topics of care, politics and ethics. She has a special interest in the authors Hannah Arendt, Rosa Luxemburg and Frantz Fanon. She was a professor of Ethics, Philosophy of Law, Philosophy and Human Rights at Faculdades Cearenses; and of Philosophy of Education and Theory of Knowledge at Faculdade Vale do Jaguaribe, Brazil. Marcela lectures the subject Political Philosophy of Latin America as a guest professor in the Postgraduate Program in Philosophy at the State University of Ceará, Brazil, and is a collaborating researcher at the Observatory on Violence at the same university. She is a member of the prominent Portuguese think-tank Fórum Demos and regularly contributes opinion articles to O Público newspaper.
