ABSTRACT
In this article regional input-output tables are used to determine the economic impact of irrigation agriculture by means of a case study. The composition of an input-output table is firstly discussed. This is followed by the incorporation of irrigation agriculture as a separate sector in the input-output table. The calculation of output, income and employment multipliers is subsequently shown. These multipliers are used to determine the economic impact of irrigation agriculture in terms of output, income and employment.
UITTREKSEL
In hierdie artikel word streeksinset-uitsettabelle gebruik om die ekonomiese impak van besproeiingslandbou deur middel van 'n gevallestudie te bepaal. Die wyse waarop streeksinset-uitsettabelle saamgestel word, word bespreek. Die inkorporering van besproeiingslandbou as 'n aparte sektor in die streeksinset-uitsettabel word toegelig en daar word aangetoon hoe uitset-. inkome- en indiensname-vermenigvuldigers vir besproeiingslandbou bereken is. Hierdie vermenigvuldigers is gebruik om die ekonomiese impak van besproeiingslandbou in terme van uitset, inkome en indiensname te bepaal.
