Abstract
This paper describes the littoral mite fauna of New Zealand, both marine forms and terrestrial forms. It summarises their distribution patterns, feeding biology, activity rhythms, and adaptations to the littoral. There is a key to those New Zealand mites restricted to the marine littoral, and a complete listing of their systematics and distribution. There is also a listing of supralittoral species and species not confined to the sea shore, and a summary list of all mite taxa mentioned.
