We would like to acknowledge the role played by members of Somaliland Focus UK, many of whom were key members of our international election observer facilitation team. We would also like to acknowledge: the role of the domestic observers, with whom we liaised closely; and finally the commitment of the people of Somaliland for their commitment to and enthusiasm for the elections of June 2010.

Notes

The Somali National Movement was a northern insurgent group established to resist the Siyaad Barre regime, which assumed control of Somaliland when that government collapsed.

The newspaper Waaheen belongs to Ahmed Hussein Essa, a long-time politician with good insider knowledge, but with a combative past inside Kulmiye.
