ABSTRACT
In this work, novel NiS–Analcime composite was facilely synthesised via ion exchange of analcime with Ni(II) ions then precipitation of Ni(II)-Analcime utilising Na2S. Also, the synthesised composite product was characterised using XRD, FT-IR, TGA, FE-SEM, and UV-Vis techniques. Besides, the synthesised composite was employed as a photocatalyst for the photocatalytic degradation of Eriochrome Black T dye under the influence of ultraviolet irradiation. Moreover, the influence of important operating factors such as time, pH, temperature, dosage of catalyst, and primary concentration of Eriochrome Black T dye was studied. Furthermore, the results confirmed that 50 mg of NiS-Analcime composite decomposed 99.48% of 50 mL of 50 mg/L Eriochrome Black T dye within 100 min at pH = 7.5 and temperature = 25 °C. In addition, the photocatalytic degradation process followed by first-order.
