Announcement of Journal Awards 2018

The Norma Parker Award

The Norma Parker Award is for new writers. It is awarded to the author of the best article published in a print edition of Australian Social Work by: (i) an undergraduate or postgraduate student; or (ii) a person who has graduated within the last two years; and who is the sole author or first author of the paper and for whom this is the first peer-reviewed publication. Joint-authored articles will be considered but the entrant should be the first author and a statement of their contribution to the work must be included.

The Norm Smith Publication in Social Work Research Award

The Norm Smith Publication in Social Work Research Award is awarded to the author or authors of the best research article that is judged to make a significant contribution to the advancement of social work knowledge and/or a significant contribution to social work professional practice published during the year in a print edition of Australian Social Work. All research-based articles published in Australian Social Work each calendar year will be considered for the Norm Smith Publication in Social Work Research Award.

The Bruce Lord Award for Excellence in Research Methodology

The Bruce Lord Award for Excellence in Research Methodology is awarded to the author or authors of the research article that is judged to demonstrate strength, innovation, and excellence in research methodology and design and which makes a significant contribution to the advancement of social work knowledge or a significant contribution to social work professional practice, or both. All research-based articles published during each calendar year in a print edition of Australian Social Work will be considered for the Award.

Announcing a New Award in 2018A new annual prize, to be named The Bruce Lord Award for Excellence in Research Methodology, will be presented to the author of the research article that is judged to demonstrate strength, innovation, and excellence in research methodology and design and which makes a significant contribution to the advancement of social work knowledge or a significant contribution to social work professional practice, or both. All research-based articles published during each calendar year in a print edition of Australian Social Work will be considered for the Award. The prize has a monetary value of $1,000 It will commence in 2018.
