ABSTRACT
Trauma experiences and symptomatology may be overlooked by clinicians as a significant impediment to aging in place. This paper presents the types of traumas and the impact of culture and racism on older adults. Additionally, age-related stressors may influence the reemergence of trauma memories and reactions and therefore, impact aging in place. Assessment, case examples, and best practice issues are presented.
