Abstract
A triangle arrayed tri-screw extruder (TATSE) is a new-style extruder that has a special structure different from a twin screw extruder. Three-dimensional and non-isothermal flow in TATSE was simulated by using the finite element method. The temperature distribution, power consumption and productivity ratio in TATSE at various rotational speeds, screw flight number, pressure difference and flow rate were studied especially. Comparison and analysis of power consumption and productivity ratio between twin screw extruder (TSE), parallel arranged tri-screw extruder (PATSE) and TATSE were carried out. The results show that the mixing and power characteristics of TATSE are better than those of TSE and PATSE.
