Abstract
Thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs) based on ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA)/chlorinated polyethylene rubber (CPE)/nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) blends were prepared by dynamic vulcanization, with the TPVs being reinforced by zinc dimethacrylate (ZDMA). Experimental results indicated that mechanical properties of dynamically vulcanized EVA/CPE/NBR blends were enhanced remarkably by the incorporation of ZDMA. There were some ZDMA particles dispersed on the etched surface of EVA/CPE/NBR/ZDMA blends with diameters of about 10 µm. A rubber process analyzer revealed that the storage modulus decreased significantly with increasing strain when the strain was 2% above and the incorporation of ZDMA in the TPVs enhanced the Payne effect.
