Abstract
In order to examine the effect of the modified nanofiller on polyethylene matrix, Cloisite 20A is treated with various types of additives as calcium carbonate, silane, stearic acid and dibenzoyl peroxide. Polyethylene nanocomposites were prepared by extrusion on twin-screw extruder using differently modified nanofiller. The results of FTIR analysis show that disorder of nanofiller structure is obtained, i.e., the chemical bonding between the components is occurred. XRD analysis shows the shift of characteristic peaks of modified filler, which indicates the formation of delaminated and/or intercalated structures. The results of thermogravimetric analysis point to different mechanisms of degradation of polyethylene nanocomposites.
