Truncation of the Bechhofer-Kiefer-Sobel sequential procedure for selecting the normal population which has the largest mean (111): supplementary truncation numbers and resulting performance characteristics

Abstract

In this paper we provide a supplementary set of truncation numbers (n₀) for δ ^∗-values not studied in Bechhofer and Goldsman (1987). These are necessary to implement the truncated sequential selection procedure (p _BT ). Performance characteristics are given for p _BT used with the new n₀-values.

A by-product of this study was the discovery of a remarkable and completely unexpected pattern among the estimated n₀-values. The practical implications of this finding are indicated.
