Confidence intervals on the difference of Failure intensities from two Exponential distributions

Abstract

A method is proposed for constructing an approximate interval on γ = λ₂ – λ₁ where 1/λ₁ and 1/λ₂ are the means of two independent exponential distributions. Computer simulation is used to compare the method with the intervals recommended by Bain, Shiue, and Engelhardt (1993).
