A cumulative score control scheme for detecting process shifts

Pages 755-774 | Received 01 Sep 1992, Published online: 27 Jun 2007

Abstract

A cumulative score control procedure for statistical process control (SPC) is presented in this paper. The ARL properties of the proposed schemes were determined by a finite state Markov chain. Enhancements to the cumulative score schemes are considered. An extensive comparison shows that the ARL properties of the improved cumulative score procedure are comparable to those of CUSUM control schemes. The proposed scheme requires only simple arithmetic and is very easy to implement.
