Like Meerkats or a Symphony: The Case for Collaboration in Library Technical Services.

Jordan Pedersen (University of Toronto)

ABSTRACT: During this lightning talk, I will explore common ways in which technical services are misunderstood by other library professionals, and suggest possible remedies for this situation through internal collaboration within our own libraries. My proposed solutions stem from the reaching out that we already do, for example through participation in consortia and organizations such as NASIG, and lessons we can learn by reaching out to other disciplines and organizations, such as business and computer science.

The current process of locating, organizing and managing electronic resources is tedious, time consuming, and allows information to be easily misplaced or even lost. Coral Electronic Resources Management System (ERMS) permits libraries to save time managing their electronic resources. I will discuss the importance of implementing Coral ERMS in a library;

Why Coral ERMS is important for your library; and My Role in Implementing Coral ERMS at Atkins Library.

Streaming Media: A Quest for a Unique Identifier

Kendra Macomber (University of Maryland)

ABSTRACT: This talk tracks the progress of a project which sought to answer the question: how much overlap currently exists between the streaming media packages at a state university library? The aim of this discussion is to bring attention to the issues that arose when conducting these comparisons, and to encourage new ideas on how to resolve these problems for libraries who serve communities who increasingly rely on them for streaming media.
