1 By definition, wicked problems are those that are complex and resistant to linear or reductionist answers, and therefore difficult and at times impossible to solve (Rittel & Webber, 1973).

2 There is no legal or agreed upon definition of contingent work, and so tracking exactly how widespread it is almost impossible. For example, the Bureau of Labor statistics puts the number at 6 million workers “who do not expect their job to last” (Kosanovich, 2018) whereas Time Magazine reports that 45 million workers engage in “peer-to-peer transactions” as a way to earn or supplement income (Steinmetz, 2016).
