The use of exercises and games

Pages 302-311 | Published online: 18 May 2009

Abstract

The use of exercises and games—broadly defined as structured activities designed to illustrate a specific point—has increased. Before using them, the instructor needs to consider carefully the problems involved. The author discusses three basic concerns in the utilization of exercises and games: selection and preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The way the issues raised in this article are handled determines the ultimate effectiveness of exercises and games in student learning.
