Manuela Sim-Sim is a professor of Plant Biology at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon. She obtained a Ph.D. in Biology (Ecology and Biosystematics) from the University of Lisbon in 1995. She is interested in the taxonomy, biogeography, ecology and conservation of bryophytes from Portugal and Macaronesia.

Anabela Martins is a grant researcher at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon. Her research mainly focuses on systematics of bryophytes, monitoring, modelling and conservation.

Ana S.B. Rodrigues is an assistant researcher at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon. She received a Ph.D. in Evolutinary Biology from the University of Lisbon in 2016. Her research interests are phylogenetics, biogeography, genomics and evolutionary biology.

César Augusto Garcia is a curator of the bryophyte collection and researcher at the National Museum of Natural History and Science, University of Lisbon. He obtained a Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of Lisbon in 2006. His research focuses on the ecology of bryophytes, taxonomy, climate change, monitoring and conservation.

Cecília Sérgio is a senior principal researcher at the University of Lisbon. Her interests are focused on taxonomy, ecology and conservation of the bryophyte flora from natural and managed ecosystems as well as urban areas.

Jacques van Rooy is a SANBI Fellow in the National Herbarium of the South African National Biodiversity Institute. He is mainly interested in the taxonomy, nomenclature, phytogeography and conservation of African bryophytes, in particular southern African mosses.

Juana M. González-Mancebo is a professor at the Faculty of Sciences, University of La Laguna. She obtained a Ph.D. in 1991. Her research focuses on biodiversity, conservation, ecology and evolution of bryophytes.⁣

Alain Vanderpoorten is a professor since 2003 at the Institute of Botany of the University of Liège (Belgium) as a research associate of the Belgian Funds for Scientific Research. He completed his Ph.D. in bio-indication through aquatic mosses at Duke University in North Carolina (USA). His research interests are in ecological and historical biogeography of bryophytes through a wide range of approaches including ecological modeling, molecular phylogenetics, and population genetics.

Jairo Patiño is a researcher at the Sciences faculty, University of La Laguna. He obtained a Ph.D. in Biology at University of La Laguna in 2010. His research program lies at the confluence of biogeography, evolution, conservation biology and systematics. He is intrigued by the ecological and evolutionary mechanisms that shape diversity at different spatial and temporal scales, with a focus on island biotas.

Lars Hedenäs has interests in bryophyte diversity, evolution, phylogeny and phylogeograpy. Wetland pleurocarps is a continuous theme in his research, but other pleurocarpous as well as acrocarpous mosses are also included among his research interests.

S. Robbert Gradstein works at the National Museum of Natural History of Paris as a research associate. He has been a lecturer at Utrecht University and a professor of botany and director of the botanical garden at the University of Göttingen. His research interests include taxonomy and biogeography, especially of liverworts, and flora and vegetation of the Tropics including human impact on biodiversity.
