Effect of Detector Mismatch on Passive Hybrid-tee Microwave Discriminator Operation

Abstract

A passive microwave discriminator has been implemented at 9.928 GHz and its frequency response measured in presence of reflection from the unmatched diode detectors used in its implementation. Effect of detector mismatch on the discriminator operation has been estimated experimentally and theoretically.

Madhumita Bhattacharya

Madhumita Bhattacharya received MSc degree in Physics (with Radiophysics and Electronics as special paper) from Burdwan University in 1988 and PhD degree from Visva-Bharati University in 1996. She is a Research Associate of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi, working in the Department of Physics, Visva-Bharati University since April 1996. Her research interest is in the field of Microwave and Optical Communications.

Taraprasad Chattopadhyay

Taraprasad Chattopadhyay received his PhD degree from the University of Burdwan in 1988. He joined Visva-Bharati University as Lecturer in Physics in 1986. At present he is acting as Reader in the same university. He was awarded Japanese Govt scholarship in 1987 and he carried out research work in optical communication in the Kyoto University, Japan, during 1988–89. He was an invited researchers of the Japan Research Development Corporation during 1991–92 where he carried out research on electro-optic modulation in the Nishizawa Terahertz Project. In 1996, he was a researchers of the Association of International Education, Japan in the Department of Electronics, Kyoto University, Japan. He has authored several papers in Indian and foreign Journals. Field of his research interest is microwave and optical communications.
