Abstract
We, the Editors and Publishers of IETE Journal of Research, have retracted the following article:
Purwar, S., Kar, I. N., & Jha, A. N. (2007). Nonlinear System Identification using Neural Networks. IETE Journal of Research, 53(1), 35-42. https://doi.org/10.1080/03772063.2007.10876119
Since publication, significant concerns have been raised that this article appears to have substantial overlap with the following previously published Elsevier article by the same group of authors:
Purwar, S., Kar, I. N., & Jha, A. N. (2007). On-line System Identification of Complex Systems using Chebyshev Neural Networks. Applied Soft Computing, 7(1), 364-372. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.asoc.2005.08.001
The similarity extends across the abstract and sections entitled introduction, problem statement, Chebyshev neural network, simulations and conclusion. Additionally, figures 3 and 4 of the Taylor & Francis article appear similar to figures 3 and 4 of the Elsevier article.
Upon query, the author has not been able to provide a satisfactory explanation for this significant level of overlap. As this is a serious breach of our Editorial Policies, we are retracting the article from the journal. The author has agreed to retract the article.
We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and the COPE guidelines.
The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
