Dear readers and subscribers, starting from this issue of Tropical Zoology, you will find new aspects and we have a new publisher. The journal, owned by the Italian Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, was published from 1988 to 2001 (volumes 1–14) by the Centro di Studio per la Faunistica ed Ecologia Tropicali (Editor Franco Ferrara), and from 2002 to 2011 (volumes 15–24) by the Istituto per lo Studio degli Ecosistemi (Editors Lorenzo Chelazzi, Giuseppe Messana and Stefano Taiti). During these 24 years of activity, Tropical Zoology has published about 450 papers in the field of experimental and descriptive zoology concerning tropical areas, with particular attention to animal diversity and ecology in the Afrotropical Region.

Starting from 2012, Tropical Zoology will be published by Taylor & Francis and the Editors will be Stefano Taiti (Editor in Chief) and Giuseppe Messana (Associate Editor) with a renewed Advisory Board. There will be four online and two printed issues per year. The editorial style of the journal will be slightly different from that of the previous volumes and the printed issues will have a new cover.

The Editors wish to invite all authors working on taxonomy, phylogeny, biogeography, ecology and ethology of tropical faunas to submit their original contributions to Tropical Zoology. For the immediate future, submissions should be addressed to [email protected]. Later on, we will have a dedicated ScholarOne Manuscripts site; authors will be contacted nearer the time to explain how this will work.

We would like to express our sincerest thanks to the past publisher, Advisory Board and all the numerous reviewers that have contributed to the success of Tropical Zoology.
