Adam Ericksen

Esmail Koushanpour, PhD, DHL, is emeritus professor of physiology, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois. During his distinguished 36-year career at Northwestern, he traveled throughout the United States and abroad to lecture, present papers, and chair panels discussing medical research. He is currently editing his book Renal Physiology: Principles, Structure and Function for its third edition. Dr. Koushanpour has lived an active retirement committed to building interfaith relationships and understanding. He has served as executive director of the Islamic Cultural Center of Greater Chicago in Northbrook, Illinois. Dr. Koushanpour has become a sought-after speaker on interfaith relations and has delivered numerous lectures on Islam. He serves as advisor on Islamic affairs to the president of the Graduate Theological Foundation (GTF) in South Bend, Indiana, and is a Distinguished Service Professor of American Muslim Relations at GTF, where he received the Doctor of Humane Letters honoris causa. Adam Ericksen, MTS, is education director at the Raven Foundation, a not-for-profit educational organization that seeks to foster an understanding of social influences and positive ways of addressing conflict by advancing the awareness of René Girard's insights into mimetic anthropology. He serves as a board member for Theology and Peace. He received his master's in theological studies from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, where he wrote his thesis, “Love and Nonviolence in Christianity and Islam.” Adam has presented many papers on Islam, including “The Universal Truths of Islam and Mimetic Anthropology and Islam” and “Nonviolence: The Case of Abdul Ghaffar Khan.”
