Abstract
A two-dimensional Navier-Stokes-based model developed using the Legendre collocation method is used to analyze turbulent plane slider bearings with wide ranges of bearing configuration, mean Reynolds number, and a parameter characterizing the viscosity variation. The load-capacity formulations are established for turbulent isothermal and turbulent thermohydrodynamic bearings. With the equations provided in this study, designers can quickly determine the load capacity without extensive computation.
