Abstract

The province of Algiers is the capital of Algeria. Its picturesque nature, coasts, and mountains contribute to the development of local Algerian tourism given its particular geographical situation. However, the (coastal) geology of the region and the dominant native culture obstruct the implementation of sustainable tourism development. The existing tourism infrastructures in the region are numerous and date back to colonial and older times. However, to develop urban areas, detailed planning is required to strengthen the tourism potential of Algiers, focusing on tourism demand and providing and maintaining tourism potential. This article highlights the fundamental role that a feasibility study plays in determining the economic profitability of investment projects and their legal, environmental, social, and financial aspects, and consequently its role in the development of tourism activities in urban areas.
