Applicability of Fitness Trackers in the Physical Education of Fifth- and Sixth-Grade Students

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discuss how fitness trackers enhance the physical education curriculum of fifth and sixth grade students by highlighting the role of fitness trackers in monitoring fitness variables and outlining ways in which physical educators can incorporate their use to assist students in meeting specific National Physical Education Standards and grade level outcomes. The authors have provided physical educators with applicable examples of how to implement fitness trackers into their curriculum during the PE class, as well as throughout the school year.
