Abstract
This paper presents two reduced order models for predicting the transient behavior of a group of induction motors operating in parallel and fed from the same bus-bar via a common feeder. The proposed models employ the load angle of each motor as a key parameter and hence the rest of the System variables are evaluated. This study investigates the effect of a sudden change in the load torque of one of the motors on the dynamics of the system. The validity of the proposed models is demonstrated by comparing their results with those obtained from a detailed “d/q” model developed for the system in a synchronously rotating reference frame.
