Abstract

Pα-methyl deoxynucleoside triphosphates are used as substrates for E. coli DNA polymerase I in template-directed polymerase reactions. It is shown that the modified compounds are incorporated together with the unmodified deoxynucleoside triphosphates into DNA under both nick-translation and Klenow reaction conditions.
