Affect in the courtroom: beyond language and performance

Abstract

This commentary proposes to bring an analysis of affect in the courtroom into the growing literature on performativity and the law. In analysing the judicialization of politics it is important to also draw from psychoanalytical approaches and to focus on not only what is present in courtrooms but also what is absent.
