Abstract
CitationReinert (1997) introduced the Surrender Scale as a spiritual measure relevant for predicting clinical outcomes in alcohol/other drug (AOD) abuse treatment contexts. The purpose of this article is to examine the reliability, factor structure, and clinical validity of the Surrender Scale in a mostly African-American sample participating in a 6-week, spiritually oriented, outpatient drug rehabilitation program. Analyses were unable to support the structural and predictive validity of the scale.
