The political alignments of the Western world are in crisis. The foundations of capitalism appear increasingly shaky, compromised by challenges such as the 2008 financial meltdown, climate change, pandemic responses, or shifting dynamics of global power. However, instead of addressing the legitimacy crisis among Western electorates, elites have chosen to double down on financialization, granting greater latitude to state forces for violent suppression, propaganda, and control. It is not surprising that debates have begun asking if we have entered a 'technofeudal’ mode of capitalism. The need for alternatives to neoliberalism or capitalism itself has long been evident, yet opinions diverge widely on what is to be done.

Today, the lack of consensus reflects uncertainty about the nature of the problem—are we transitioning towards high-tech feudalism or still struggling within democratic capitalism? We welcome paper and panel proposals. Please see the website for details.
