Abstract
To close the gap between unmet expectations and the promise of IT-based performance improvement, IT professionals must skillfully manage multiple and competing priorities. They must push for innovation but keep a steady eye trained on return on investment, master a technology that is growing at an explosive rate but apply interpersonal skills with great finesse, respond creatively to client need, and still preserve the integrity of corporate IT infrastructure. This article provides guidance on how to do this.
