Summary

There are many ways to approximate π, such as the Leibniz formula or Machin-like formula. However, in this classroom capsule, we provide a series for π using the Maclaurin series of arcsine, using a sequence defined by sine. Also, we explain why the approximation gets better via defining a double sequence and approximating error via Taylor’s remainder theorem.
