The climate of urban areas in the united states and their rates of personal violence (suicide and homicide)

Pages 611-616 | Published online: 14 Aug 2007

Abstract

The climatic variables of the major urban areas of the United States were found to form three clusters measuring coldness, elevation, and precipitation. Two of these clusters (coldness and precipitation) were found to be associated with the suicide rates and homicide rates of the urban areas. The implications of these results were discussed.
