Abstract

Drawing has long been used as a projective assessment tool. It is appropriate for psychotherapy and art therapy to develop tools capable of assessing how the client relates to their emotional and unconscious personal experience, the defense mechanisms used by the client and his ego strength. Drawing a wild animal and a person (DWAP: Draw-a-Wild-Animal-and-a-Person) in action could provide relevant information in this regard. The wild animal may symbolize elements originating from the deepest layers of the unconscious while the person may depict elements closer to the conscious self. Some data from its implementation and an example of its implementation are presented with a view to introducing the tool to therapists and researchers. Further research on this evaluation tool would be advisable.

RÉSUMÉ

Le dessin est utilisé depuis longtemps en tant qu’outil d’évaluation projectif. Il est pertinent pour la psychothérapie et l’art-thérapie de développer des outils permettant d’évaluer la façon dont le client entre en relation avec son vécu émotionnel et inconscient, les mécanismes d’adaptation utilisés par le client et la force du Moi du client. Le dessin d’un animal sauvage et d’une personne (DWAP: Draw-a-Wild-Animal-and-a-Person) en action pourrait fournir des informations pertinentes à ce sujet. L’animal sauvage peut symboliser des aspects émanant des couches plus profondes de l’inconscient alors que la personne peut représenter des aspects plus proches du Moi conscient. Quelques données issues de sa passation ainsi qu’un exemple de passation sont présentés dans le but de le faire connaître aux thérapeutes et aux chercheurs. Il serait souhaitable de poursuivre les recherches sur cet outil d’évaluation.
