&
Pages 45-51 | Published online: 06 Jun 2009

This study examined the effect behavior associated with communication apprehension (CA) has on a person's interaction partner in initial dyadic interactions. Persons interacting with confederates exhibiting high communication apprehension behavior (HCAB) experienced higher levels of self‐reported state CA and judged their interaction partners as less socially and task attractive than persons interacting with a confederate exhibiting low communication apprehension behavior (LCAB). These and other results are discussed at the conclusion of the paper.
