Abstract
Microporous minerals have been widely applied in industry as catalysts, cation exchangers, adsorbents, and sequestering agents. This review highlights the preparation of microporous minerals through thermal treatment, including thermal modification and thermal synthesis. The preparation processes are described in detail, while microwave irradiation as an advanced heating method is especially stated. The mechanisms by which microporous minerals are prepared by thermal modification and synthesis are separately summarized. The important parameters of affecting the thermal modification and synthesis processes are stated. Finally, the instrumental techniques to characterize microporous minerals are presented.
