Abstract

This study investigated how instructors of business communication and business policy at AACSB institutions teach oral communication skills in their classes. Information was sought regarding instructor preparation, types of communication activities assigned, and instructors' perception of student performance and needs. Findings indicate that whereas oral communication instruction in the business classroom is generally rigorous, few instructors have extensive academic background in speech; that students need more preparation in using visual aids; and that more class discussion of public speaking anxiety may be helpful to students in developing a relaxed approach to public speaking.
