As we announced in our January–March 2013 issue, the publisher and editor of the Journal of Teaching in Social Work have inaugurated an annual Florence W. Vigilante Award in honor of its founding editor. As a lasting tribute to Dr. Vigilante, this annual award will recognize the best article published in the preceding year.

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Third Annual Florence W. Vigilante Award is the author of the article titled “Extending the Ally Model of Social Justice to Social Work Pedagogy,” which was published in Volume 34, Issue 2 (2014). The article focuses on the expectation that all social work students be committed to taking action against social injustice and proposes the “Ally Model” as a pedagogical tool when teaching about oppression and privilege.

We congratulate author Priscilla Ann Gibson of the University of Minnesota. In recognition of the importance of her contribution, we have posted the entire article online at www.tandfonline.com/WTSW and made it available as a free download in PDF format for printing.

We are very proud of Professor Gibson and of her seminal contribution to the scholarship of our profession. She is a worthy recipient of the Third Annual Florence W. Vigilante Award.
