Abstract
This study replicates and extends the landmark study of technology acceptance and use conducted by Straub, Limayem and Karahanna-Evaristo [25]. As in their study, the authors in this study investigate whether self-reported and objective usage data are a viable alternative for each other, testing this study's models within the context of a web-based technological environment.
The current research extends the work of Straub et al. [25] by not only examining perceived and objective usage in separate models, but also within a single model. This study confirmed the original study's findings that objective and subjective data are independent constructs. However, in this study, the authors observed a stronger relationship between self-reported and objective usage than that found in the Straub et al. [25] study. Implications for theory and research are discussed.
