Javier Mosquera Saravia

Javier Mosquera Saravia (Guatemala, 1961) is the author of eight books, including Una manzana peligrosa en el último día perfecto (2015), from which this story was selected, and Figuraciones (2011), both published by F & G Editores. He has been a featured writer at book conferences and events throughout the Americas and Europe. In 2014, he translated David Unger’s The Price of Escape and the new forthcoming version of Life in the Damn Tropics.

The following is an excerpt from Mosquera Saravia’s story “El último día perfecto,” which is based on testimonies in Daniel Wilkinson’s book on Guatemala, Silence on the Mountain, interspersed with events taking place in London and Guatemala in the ’60s and early ’70s.
