Jorge Luis Borges

Jorge Luis Borges and Rubén Darío seem dramatically divergent in narrative style and literary aesthetic. Nevertheless, this 1967 essay celebrates Darío’s innovation, renovation, and liberation of Latin American letters. Borges sent the text to the Congress of Latin American Writers held in Guadalajara, Mexico, and it was then published in the Mexican journal El despertar americano.
