Julio Cortázar
Julio Cortázar (1914-1984), the playful Argentine writer who spent the latter half of his life in Paris, was best known for his novel Hopscotch (1963) and his many short stories, including those that inspired Antonioni’s film Blow-Up and Godard’s Weekend. In Europe, he worked mostly as a translator and interpreter for UNESCO and other organizations.
