José Miguel Oviedo
José Miguel Oviedo (1934-2019) was a Peruvian literary critic and writer, who taught for three decades at the University of Pennsylvania. Among his many books are Mario Vargas Llosa: la invención de una realidad (1970), the four-volume Historia de la literatura hispanoamericana (1991–2001), the memoir Una locura razonable (2014; A Reasonable Madness), and several volumes of short stories. This issue includes a memorial piece on Oviedo, by Alonso Cueto.
