Nélida Piñon

Nelida Piñon (Rio de Janeiro, 1937) is one of Brazil’s leading writers of fiction. She is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters and has been translated into many languages. Among her many books, English translations include The Republic of Dreams (1989), Caetana’s Sweet Song (1992), and Voices of the Desert (2009). Her most recent book is the memoir Uma furtiva lagrima (2019; A Furtive Tear).
