ABSTRACT

Chalicotheriidae fossils from Siwaliks have played an important part in the palaeontological history of chalicotheres. For example, the recovered specimen represents the features of Anisodon and Chalicotherium. First, the dual features of the molar are described. A review of the characters supports Chalicotherium sp. for this specimen. Second, the description and comparison of this specimen enhance the knowledge of the subcontinent chalichotheres. Moreover, it gives us better aspects for the morphometric features of the genera Anisodon and Chalicotherium. We have briefly discussed the problems that arise while allocating dental remains to either of these genera.
