ABSTRACT

A novel turbulated cutback structure is designed for trailing-edge cooling, which has smooth-transition protrusions on the cutback surface. Experimental investigations are carried out on the effects of the protrusion configuration and the blowing ratio M on adiabatic cooling effectiveness and convective heat transfer coefficient of the cutback surface using transient thermochromic liquid crystal technology and steady pressure-sensitive paint technology as measuring methods. As M increases, the comprehensive heat transfer performance (heat flux ratio) first increases and then decreases, reaching a peak at M = 1.00. The smooth-transition protrusions effectively enhance the comprehensive heat transfer performance by 12.4 ~ 36.8% of the cutback surface.
