We are now cognizant that this article contains portions of text and data without proper attribution and credit from an article published in World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery. The article “Systemic inflammation and immune response after laparotomy vs laparoscopy in patients with acute cholecystitis, complicated by peritonitis” (World J Gastrointest Surg. Apr 27, 2013; 5(4): 73–82) was submitted prior to “Peritonitis from Perforated Peptic Ulcer and Immune Response.”

This action constitutes a breach of warranties made by the author with respect to originality. Taylor & Francis notes that we received, peer-reviewed, accepted, and published the article in good faith based on these warranties, and censure this action.
