The journal wishes to pass along the sad news that Dr. Christopher R. E. Coggins, DABT, a member of the Editorial Board of long standing, passed away on 5 November 2017 at the age of 67. Dr. Coggins was a highly respected scientist in the fields of general toxicology, inhalation toxicology, toxicologic pathology and epidemiology. Dr. Coggins received his PhD from Edinburgh University, Scotland, in 1976, and subsequently pursued a diverse career beginning as an inhalation toxicologist at the Battelle-Geneva Research Center in Switzerland, followed by several senior scientific and leadership roles in the industry sector, and later as the principal of Carson Watts Consulting. He published over 85 peer-reviewed papers over his remarkable and productive career, most in the field of inhalation toxicology. Dr. Coggins is remembered by his friends for his very British dry wit and dignified mannerisms, and by his colleagues as an exceptionally capable inhalation toxicologist.
